Pennsylvania native Versal L. Emerson was born in 1838...  

Emily Hannah Brown was born in Yorkshire, England on February 8th 1841 to John W. Brown & Harriet Speight Brown... Emily & her family immigrated to America in 1857...


☆ Interesting events that occurred during Versal's birth year of 1838 included...

▪ On January 27th 1838 after having recently been admitted to the bar as an attorney, future 16th United States President, Abraham Lincoln speaks at the Springfield Young Men's Lyceum...

▪ On March 8th, 1838, the New Orleans Mint strikes its first coinage, 30 dimes...

▪ On July 3rd, 1838 the owa Territory is effective... Iowa was split up in two different states when it was admitted as the 29th state to the Union in 1846...


☆ Interesting events that occurred in Emily's birth year of 1841 included...

▪ On March 4th, 1841 Martin Van Buren is succeeded as President of the United States by William Henry Harrison...

▪ On April 4th, 1841, President William Henry Harrison dies of pneumonia, becoming the first President of the United States to die in office and at one month, the President with the shortest term ever served.... President Harrison is succeeded by Vice President John Tyler, who becomes the 10th President of the United States...

▪ In November of 1841 famed African-American abolitionist and social reformer Frederick Douglass speaks at the Massachusetts Anti-slavery Society Convention...


Eventually, Versal & Emily married ... The couple had two children & lived in Tampa, Florida... Versal worked as a truck driver to provide for his family...

 Versal L. Emerson passed away on October 22nd 1907... He bequeathed his property to his widow, Emily & his two children... 

After her husband's passing, Emily continued to reside in Florida... Emily lived with her daughter in Tampa...

Emily Hannah Emerson passed away on November 15th 1920... The following is quoted from Emily's Funeral Notice published in The Tampa Times on November 15th 1920:


 

"EMERSON--- Mrs. Emily H. Emerson, died Sunday afternoon at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. M. M. Evans, 206 East Ross Ave. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Tuesday from the parlors of Undertaker B. Marion Reed. Rev. T. J. Nixon will officiate. Interment will be made in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Joseph Mizelle, Frank S. Wright, August Vanderpool, T. J. Carruthers, C. M. Blake and J. S. Jones."
