Herman William Manson Sr was born more than 138 years ago on May 21st, 1881 to his Father John Henry August Manson and his Mother, Ida A Filser (Felzer) in Dalton, Missouri.

Herman was the fourth born Son and last child brought into the World by his Mother and Father. He had three older Brothers who were welcomed between 1874 and 1880. ( John Henry Walter, Fredrick William, and August Herman Manson )

Manson Patriarch John Henry August Manson supported his family in the field of farming.

Three weeks before celebrating his first birthday, Herman would his his Father John Henry August when he passes away on May 3rd 1882 in Brunswick, Missouri.

He was just 31 years old...

Herman's Mother Ida would remarry 16 years later in 1898 when she Weds William Jackson Humphrey ...

In that same year, 17 year old Herman would enlist to serve his Country during the Spanish-American War and is assigned to the 11th Company Coast Artillery.

After the war's end Herman relocates to Polk County Florida and in 1905 marries his Wife Crystal Angus Manson who was a native of Key West, Florida.

Together they would have two children during the course of their marriage... A Son, Herman William Manson Jr who is born on May 19th, 1912 and a Daughter, Winona three years later on June 25th, 1915...

Herman supports his family has an auto mechanic, automobile salesman, and as a first aid operator....

By 1935 Herman and Crystal have relocated from Polk County in Central Florida to the city of Tampa where they would remain for the rest of their lives.

In January of 1942 Herman is installed as commander of the General Joe Wheeler Camp Auxiliary of the United Spanish American War Veterans in front of an audience of several hundred. ( Photograph of Herman during the event in comments below )

Mr. Manson's Wife Crystal was extremely involved in Veterans affairs and was elected as President of the United Spanish War Veterans Auxiliary of Florida. She traveled all across the United States in this position.

Family Matriarch Crystal Manson would pass away in Tampa, Florida at the age of 73 on January 23rd, 1963.

Herman would lose his life 3.5 years later on October fourth, 1966 at the age of 85.

** Note - Herman's obituary from the Fall of 1966 indicates that he had remarried as it mentions his widow "Ruth L. Manson" although I cannot locate any wedding notifications between Crystal's passing in January 1963 and Herman's in October of 1966.
