Refugia E. Alvarez.... Here is what we know

• Refugia would have immigrated and made her way to the United States sometime in the late 1800s. She first appears in a Tampa City directory with her Husband Atanasio ( a cigar maker ) in 1899.

• We discover that Refugia and Atanasio have at least one Daughter by the name of Julia Ramona when we locate her wedding announcement from September 17th, 1904 in a local Tampa newspaper.

• According to her obituaries we learn that Refugia "is prominently connected in this city and was well-known having a large circle of friends". After a short illness she "died suddenly at home"... 'The funeral was largely attended by many of the most prominent Latin Americans of the city".
