Edward attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Academy & was star athlete on their basketball team… He graduated in 1960...After graduation, Edward joined United States Army based out of the state of Georgia & served as a military policeman... The young Private was engaged to Selena Alfonso…

Edward’s life tragically ended at the age of 21 on June 30th 1964… Edward was on duty and ordered S. Sergeant E.C. Adams’ vehicle to pull over to the side of U.S. Fort Benning, Georgia… While both men were on the side of the road, another vehicle ran into the soldiers…

☆ Both Private Edward Temes and S. Sergeant Adams died instantly…

Tampa Man Killed at Fort Benning

A Tampa man, a soldier at Ft. Benning, Ga, and another soldier were killed there Tuesday on U.S. 27, which runs through the Army reservation near Columbus.
The Tampa victim was Edward L. Temes, 21 a 1960 graduate of Our Lady Perpetual Help Academy.
Authorities said that Temes, a military policeman, had ordered a car driven by S. Sgt. E. C. Adams, 39, to pull over to the side of the highway. Another vehicle came over a hill and ran into the soldiers, killing them both.
Temes was a regular on the basketball team at OLPH, and in his final year there was a top scorer. He entered the Army after his graduation.
Surviving are a brother, Albert Temes, New Orleans, and two half-brothers, Oscar Morales, Los Angeles, and Buddy W. Morales, Tampa.”
